Saved lives, which might so easily have been lost forever.
Well two days ago, I saw a post on RHU asking for help with an FIV+ 18month old ginger friendly boy, Jasper. Breaks your heart when you read that the vet with whom he was being cared for was about to euthenaise him because he was a stray. So, I called all my contacts, and finally found a lady running a small independant sanctuary in Gloucester already housing FIV cats who was willing to offer him a forever home – success!
Today, same thing, two separate cases at the SAME vets, an elderly black girl with thyroid probs, so friendly, and a white boy with dental probs, again friendly and loving – both threatened with PTS – so again I called all my long suffering contacts and finally came up – through one of them – with a sanctuary place for them both – at Holsworthy in Devon.
It breaks my heart to see this reaccurrrance of vet practices so willing to euthenaise cats because they are taking up space – they need only do what I did – make a few calls – but I guess because I have been doing it for so long that I have made some fantastic contacts – and I am always so so thankful when one of them can help.
